Programs of Study
What Is a Program of Study?
A program of study is a comprehensive, structured approach for delivering academic and CTE to prepare students for postsecondary education and career success.
What Is Included in a Program of Study?
- Aligned high school and postsecondary courses
- Coherent instruction aligned with academic and CTE content
- Opportunity for CAVIT students to earn dual college credit in their CTE course
- High school programs that lead to postsecondary degrees and credentials
How Is a Program of Study Created?
CAVIT teachers along with industry representatives and Central Arizona College representatives work in collaboration to create a Program of Study. The college evaluates the CAVIT teacher to determine if the person meets the prerequisites to teach dual enrollment CTE courses. Once the teacher is approved, the college evaluates program to ensure the curriculum and instructional materials are of sufficient size and scope. If the college approves both the teacher and program, CAVIT can initiate a dual enrollment class request to begin offering a Program of Study on our campus.
